Brick: Another SAU Sage for Des Moines

St. Ambrose University alumnus Joe Brick '59 was honored Nov. 10 by dsm magazine as one of the recipients of "Sages Over 70," an award that honors individuals 70 and older who have contributed to the betterment of the greater Des Moines. Iowa, area.

According to the nomination, the Des Moines attorney is a community volunteer who quietly supports various causes and organizations. Brick has served on numerous boards, including the Downing (Catholic High School) Foundation, Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and Des Moines Performing Arts. Brick is also noted as a supporter of education who has helped students and families in crisis cover the cost of high school tuition. 

Brick, who graduated from SAU with a degree in political science, is the third St. Ambrose University alumnus to be recognized as a "Sages Over 70." Last year, former McGladrey LLP CEO Jack Wahlig '54 received the honor. In 2014, Donald "Don" Brush '64 received the honor. Brush is a former mayor of Urbandale, Iowa, and retired vice president of Wells Fargo Private Client Services.

Both Wahlig and Brush graduated from St. Ambrose with degrees in accounting.
