Band Signals New Era in SAU Athletics

08/16/2016

They were small but they were mighty.

The St. Ambrose University Marching Band gathered for its inaugural band camp in August, made its debut at the opening home football game and grew stronger throughout the year.

The August camp saw dozens of student-musicians work sun up to beyond sundown under the leadership of Director of Athletic Bands Megan Cooney, Director of Bands Nicholas Enz, PhD, and three guest instructors. Sophomore Gabby Bauer was among the initial participants and didn't know exactly what to expect.

"I don't really know if this will be my busiest school year, but it will definitely be quite interesting to see how everything works itself out," she said in an article published by the Quad-City Times. "Between the symphonic band and jazz band to performances and marching band, it will be nothing but music, and I couldn't be any more excited."

The band will return bigger and better in August, ready for another year.
