The Sixties

Bill Walsh '62 and his wife, Mary (Maloney) ‘62, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February.

Raymond Botch Jr. '65 received the Distinguished Service Award from the Kansas University City Managers and Trainees Alumni Organization. The award was presented during the International City/County Management Association conference in Kansas City, Missouri. In addition, he created The Raymond P. Botch and Raymond Paul Botch Jr. City Management scholarship, naming the first recipient in 2016.

Michael Ceurvorst '65 completed his Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The degree will help in his work with veterans and others experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder in Kauai, Hawaii, where he and his wife operate a hardwood tree farm. Ceurvorst has published a book of poetry, Re Longing, Learning, Loving, Leaving, which is available through Amazon.

Deacon William Ditewig '71 has retired as the director of faith formation, diaconate and pastoral planning for the Diocese of Monterey in California and as a professor of theology at Santa Clara University. He has relocated to Tampa, Florida.

The Seventies

After 41 years of teaching, Karl Burmester '75 retired as a health educator in the public and parochial school systems. He is now an adjunct teacher of health careers at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.

The Eighties

Tim Lane '88 was elected sheriff for Scott County, Iowa.

The Nineties

Todd Becker '90 is the executive director of Clubfoot Solutions in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Gayle Roberts '91 MBA, president and CEO of Stanley Consultants, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Iowa State University Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. Roberts was also elected to a two-year term as vice chair of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).

The Atlanta Business League honored Angela Lindsay '94 MBA by including her on its list of Atlanta's Top 100 Black Women of Influence.

Brian Farrell '95 received the Iowa State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Award of Merit. His book Habeas Corpus in International Law is available through Cambridge University Press.

Erin (Hawley) Moseley '96 is a quality assurance agent for American Express.

Jennifer (Malley) Tobin '97 is marketing liaison at Parkview Manor in Wellman, Iowa.

The Zeros

Ruben Alejandro Castillo '01 is the vice president of worldwide human resources at Kemin Industries in Des Moines, Iowa.

Julie (Smith) Thompson '01 MBA is the manager of communication systems at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.

Sara Hansen '01, '02 MCJ is executive director of the Heart and Vascular Institute at University Health System in San Antonio, Texas.

Senior Executive Service leader D. Scott Welker '02 MBA retired as the deputy to the commander, Joint Munitions Command Headquarters, after serving more than 32 years for the Department of Defense.

Leeanna (Smith) Ellis '04 earned first-place honors in the National Newspaper Association Better Newspaper contest for her feature series on Washington County (Nebraska) cemeteries. Ellis is the assistant editor for the Washington County Enterprise and the Arlington Citizen editor at Enterprise Publishing Company in Blair, Nebraska.

Kristy (Heithoff) Owens '07 is the Mandel Hall manager at the University of Chicago. She has been with the university since 2015.

The Teens

Devin Stites '10 is teaching English in South Korea. He began teaching there in 2011.

Andrew Gates '11 is the veteran services counselor at St. Charles Community College in St. Peters, Missouri. He had been coordinator of veterans recruitment and services at St. Ambrose.

Melissa McDonald '11 is a web designer at Fusionfarm, part of the Gazette Company, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In addition, her thesis was published by LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing in 2014.

Matthew Dunn '11, '12 MACC was promoted to audit supervisor at Selden Fox, Ltd., in Oak Brook, Illinois.

A fourth-year student at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Mitchell Binkley '12, has been awarded the Southern Illinois Medical Association Scholarship.

Joe Conklin '12 MBA is the athletic director at Alleman High School, Rock Island, Illinois.

Bridget LeMaire '12 is a freshman admissions counselor at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

Kyle Wehr '12 is an associate product manager for Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines, Iowa. Wehr was named "Best and Brightest Class of 2016" from the University of Iowa Tippie School of Management, where he earned a Master of Business Administration.

Kristie (Andresen) Dixon '14 is the services facilitator at Arc of Southeast Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.

Taurean Rivers '14 has accepted a position at Sudlow Intermediate School in Davenport. As a student success advocate for the school, he works directly with sixth- through eighth-graders to help improve student achievement.

Lauren Portz '15 is an account executive at KLJB/Fox 18. The station is located in Rock Island, Illinois.

Luke Staudt '15 is an athletic academic services graduate assistant at the University of Memphis.

Zack Jadzak '15 is an assistant basketball coach and head recruiting coordinator at Aurora (Illinois) University. Previously, he was the assistant head coach at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois.

Davis Elkins '16 is an IT analyst at HNI Corporation in Muscatine, Iowa.

Karen (Clark) Brenot '01 and her husband, Matt, celebrated the birth of Claire Louise on Nov. 11, 2016. Claire was welcomed home by big sister Ella.

Ryan Powers '01 and his wife, Chelsea (Bleymeyer) '05, are the proud parents of daughter Evyn Rose, born April 12, 2016. She joins brother Kellen and sister Peyton.

Shana (Lockwood) Cook '02 and husband, Keith, welcomed home Jayden on Sept. 14, 2016. Jayden joins brother Tristan.

Melissa (Gagnepain) Wilsonholme '02, '03 MOT and her husband, Jim, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Isabelle Marie, born Nov. 10, 2016.

Matthew '03 and Jen (Szarzynski) Papoccia '03, '04 MOT celebrated the birth of son Owen Christopher on April 27, 2016. Owen was welcomed home by siblings Cecilia, Brooklyn and Oliver.

Betsy (Griffith) '04 and Nathan Fisher '05 are proud parents of son Nile, born Aug. 30, 2016. He joins siblings Rowan and Cullen.

Jake Turner '04 and his wife, Allison, welcomed home son Thomas Ambrose, born Jan. 12, 2016. Thomas was welcomed home by older sister Autumn.

Katie (Thomas) '05 and James Gimbel II '07, '08, '09 MOT were happy to announce the birth of daughter Hadley Ambrose, born June 24, 2016. Hadley was welcomed by older brother James.

Stephanie (Stapes) Staley '05 and her husband, Rex, are the proud parents of daughter Olivia Jane, born Jan. 27, 2017. Olivia was welcomed home by big sister Meredith.
