2022 Galvins Awards Hosted by Theatre Appreciation Club

Theatre Newsletter | May 2022

Mark your calendar because this year the Theatre Appreciation Club (TAC) will be hosting the annual Galvin's Ceremony on Saturday May 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Allaert Auditorium.

For those who have not heard of the Galvin's, it is the Theatre Department's yearly wrap up event. Everyone will gather round and reminisce on the previous theatrical season.

One new tweak has been made to the Galvin's this year. For the first time, a few Galvin Awards will be given out by the officers of TAC. Then as usual, the directors and stage managers from the past season will review their work and bestow rewards to their cast and crew.

This year's presenters include T.J. Green '20 and sophomore Elena Vallejo from the fall's studio production, The Lesson and Professor Daniel Rairdin-Hale '04 for the mainstage production, She Kills Monsters.

Moving on to the spring season, seniors K. Hampton and Andrés Garcia for the spring studio production of Proof, and Dr. Corinne Johnson and Mel Maylum '20 for the spring musical Little Women. All of these shows will pass out awards for the most memorable moments of their show whether they are happy, silly or in some cases, embarrassing. The chair of the Theatre Department, Rairdin-Hale, will also be discussing his plans for next year's season.

If you have any questions about the Galvin's you can contact any of the TAC officers: K. Hampton, Nyssa Wagner, Peyton Reese, and Quinnie Rodman. Tickets are $10 and available for purchase online.

This year's Senior Showcase has been opened to all seniors who have participated in TAC or any SAU production during their time at SAU. The seniors will present their strongest suits and interests. The presentations can include pieces they have designed, directorial work done during their tenure at Ambrose, and performances from those who are actors and singers.

We do hope that you will join our seniors for their last performance on the Allaert Stage, and if you are hoping to attend the Galvin's please purchase your ticket today!
