Ken Grenier, assistant professor and director, passed away Tuesday, March 28. He was 82 years old.Grenier was a member of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1998 to 2016 until his retirement. During his tenure at St. Ambrose he was assistant professor in the Computer Information Science department as well as director of the Master of Science in Information Technology Management program from 2008 to 2016.
Grenier was a lifelong learner who valued education deeply. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University, a Master's in Applied Science from Augustana College, and an MBA from the University of Iowa. His illustrious career began as a teacher at St. Mary's High School in Clinton. He went on to work in the IT department at John Deere for 25 years before returning to education as a teacher at Mount St. Clare College in Clinton, and as an Assistant Professor in the Computer and Information Systems department at St. Ambrose University, where he taught for 23 years.
A Christian Wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, April 3, at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St. A, Moline, followed by visitation from 4-6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, at Sacred Heart Church, 1307 17th Avenue, Moline, with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.Remembrances and condolences may be expressed online.
