Getting and Staying Fit

Fitness and staying in shape are important. Wellness and Recreation provide you with many opportunities to stay active and have fun on campus. Take advantage of our fully-equipped weight room and cardio area in the Wellness and Recreation Center.

Group Fitness

Join a Group Fitness class -- all are free!

Classes range from 30 minutes to an hour and usually take place Mon-Fri, 4:30-8 p.m. 

Personal Training

Reach your fitness goals with the help of a personal trainer who will give you a weight room orientation, fitness assessment, and body composition evaluation.

They'll also provide you with motivation and accountability that develops into prosperous self-discipline in and out of the gym.

SAU Personal Trainers can help you work on cardiovascular health, muscle strength, self-endurance, flexibility, and balance through exciting routines and fun workouts.

Group Classes


Express Abs
This 30-minute class will help you strengthen your core and define your abs.

Trim and Tone
Using toning and strengthening exercises, you will increase the number of repetitions of each exercise to build stronger muscles.

ZUMBA
Ditch the workout and join the party! Zumba is a great fitness class for all levels that incorporates salsa, merengue, reggaeton, cumbia, and hip-hop. No experience necessary.

Pilates
Similar to yoga, Pilates emphasizes your body's core: the abdomen, obliques, lower back, inner and outer thigh, buttocks, and more.

Mindful Meditation
Meditation is an ancient practice of increasing awareness and focus while lowering stress levels. Take a pause from your hectic day and slow down and relax in a positive environment. Bring a mat or cushion on which to sit.

Yoga
A relaxed-paced class that integrates breath work with various poses for a greater sense of balance and direction. No prior yoga experience is needed. Please bring your mat.

Bootcamp
This formatted circuit class will build your strength as well as your cardio – all in an hour. You choose your intensity. No experience necessary; open to all levels of fitness.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
High Intensity Interval Training requires 100% effort using quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short recovery periods. This class will raise your heart rate and burn more fat in less time.

TRX
Build muscle and support a healthy body with this workout. TRX suspension training allows for resistance exercises and better results.

Cardio Dance
Get moving and your heart pumping. This class brings the party to the gym. The fun, easy to follow cardio dance moves will help tone and burn fat.

Spinning Class
Get a great workout without the impact of running or jumping. You'll burn calories and keep your muscles in shape while building cardiovascular endurance and strength.
