St. Ambrose University is proud to announce the Ambrose Pathway grant, a need-based tuition support opportunity designed to make a St. Ambrose education more affordable for eligible students from Chicago and across Illinois. The grant, available to any qualifying non-Iowa student, helps reduce financial barriers by pairing with federal Pell Grant funding so students can pursue a degree with minimized debt and a strong foundation for future careers.
The Ambrose Pathway Grant is available to incoming first-year students who complete the FAFSA, demonstrate financial need, and enroll full-time on campus, offering a clear pathway to a transformative college experience. Renewal is based on continued academic progress and annual FAFSA updates, helping students stay on track while keeping costs manageable. This initiative reflects SAU’s commitment to expanding access and supporting students from diverse communities beyond Iowa’s borders.
“I can say with confidence that choosing St. Ambrose was one of the smartest financial decisions I made,” said William Nemechek ’25, a Batavia, Illinois student. “Without the support I received, the opportunity to earn my degree might have felt out of reach. Ambrose made it possible for me to focus on learning rather than worrying about debt.”
“At St. Ambrose, we believe a high-quality education should be accessible to students from all backgrounds and faiths, including those in Chicago and throughout Illinois who strive to make a difference in the world. The Ambrose Pathway grant is a meaningful investment in their potential and aligns with our mission to empower every Ambrosian to pursue their goals with confidence,” said Amy Novak, EdD, president and CEO for St. Ambrose University.
Applicants from Illinois are encouraged to connect with SAU admissions and financial aid counselors to explore eligibility and begin their academic journey at St. Ambrose. For more information, visit sau.edu/ambrosepathway.
