Andrew Kaiser, PhD

Dr. Andy Kaiser is Professor of Psychology beginning at St. Ambrose University in 1995. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma, and my Master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University. In Florida, I worked for 5 years at Florida State Hospital as a Psychological Specialist conducting individual and group therapy for chronically institutionalized adults.

Additionally, I taught for 5 years in the Psychology Departments at Florida State University and Tallahassee Community College. I worked in Florida and Alabama evaluating defendants and testifying for the courts on issues related to Competence to Stand Trial and Not Guilty By Reason of Insanity. Currently, I teach courses in the Forensic Psychology Program and Statistics. I have assisted the staff at the Scott County Jail evaluating programs for the last decade.

From 2007 through 2013, I served on the Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council. From 2010 through 2013, I served as the Chair of the Council. In other leadership roles, I was Chair of the St. Ambrose Psychology Department from 2016-2020. I’ve also served on (and led) numerous university committees I’ve volunteered with NAMI of the Greater Mississippi Valley for more than 15 years.
